Errors and messages
Your card reader may occasionally display messages to inform you of errors or provide information on admin and updates. You can refer to this list when you see a message and take the appropriate action.
Selected error messages
Message | Reason | Action |
CANCELLED | The operation was cancelled by the merchant or cardholder, or the card reader timed out whilst waiting for the operation | Retry operation |
CARD BLOCKED | The card is blocked | Retry operation with another card |
CARD REMOVED | The card was removed too soon | Retry operation |
COMM. ERROR CHECK CONNECTION | Communication failure detected between the card reader and mobile device | Ensure the card reader is within Bluetooth range. If a transaction was in progress, reach out to Support to verify transaction. Otherwise, retry operation |
FALLBACK TO MSR | The chip has failed, use the magnetic stripe instead | Wait for further instructions |
INCORRECT PIN | The incorrect PIN has been entered | Re-enter PIN |
INVALID CARD | The card data cannot be read | Retry operation or retry with another card. If issue persists, reach out to Support |
LAST ATTEMPT | This is the final attempt for correct PIN entry | Re-enter PIN, press Cancel to abort transaction or press OK to activate PIN bypass mode (if available) |
NOT PROCESSED | Generic message to show the operation was not complete due to an unexpected error | Retry operation. If issue persists, reach out to Support |
PIN IS BLOCKED | The maximum number of PIN entry attempts has been reached | Wait for further instructions. The cardholder will need to contact their card issuer to unblock the PIN |
PROCESSING ERROR | An unexpected error occurred during transaction processing | Retry operation. If issue persists, reach out to Support |
READ ERROR | Unable to establish a contact with the cards chip | Wait for further instructions |
REQUEST INVALID | A transaction was attempted with a card that is cash only | No action required |
SALE VOID | Indicates the current operation is a reversal/voiding of a sale | |
TRANS. DECLINED | A transaction has been declined - further information may be displayed to indicate why | |
TRANSACTION VOID | A transaction was cancelled due to cardholder not responding in time or the merchant rejected it | |
UNSUPPORTED CUR. | A currency has been selected that you cannot use | Select a valid currency and retry operation |
USING SIGNATURE | The cardholder signature is required | Wait for further instructions |

BATTERY LOW | The battery level is low | Charge the card reader |
BATTERY TOO LOW | The battery is too low to complete the operation | Charge the card reader |
CONNECTION ERROR | Communication failure detected between the card reader and mobile device | Verify your mobile device has an internet connection and retry update |
DOWNLOADING | An update is downloading | Wait for the update to complete |
INSTALLING | An update is installing | |
NO UPDATE | An update was requested but there is no update available | No action required |
RESTARTING... | The card reader is about to restart after an update | Wait for further instructions |
SOFTWARE X% | x% of an update has been completed | Wait for the update to complete |
UPDATE COMPLETE | An update has completed successfully | No action required |
UPDATE FAILURE! | An update has failed to complete | Retry update |
